Freedom Seekers of the 1850's Treasure Hunt!

LIABILITY WAIVER, RELEASE OF CLAIMS, AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK Event Name: Freedom Seekers of the 1850s Treasure Hunt Location: Southeastern Indiana. Effective Dates: August 1, 2026 – Until Tournament Completion IMPORTANT NOTICE TO PARTICIPANTS: This document is a legally binding contract. By submitting this form, you waive certain legal rights, including the right to sue the event organizers, affiliates, volunteers, and sponsors. Please read this document carefully. Section 1: Assumption of Risk I, the undersigned participant, acknowledge that the Freedom Seekers of the 1850s Treasure Hunt involves physical activity, including traveling, walking, navigating public spaces, and exploring outdoor terrain across various counties in Southeastern Indiana. I explicitly recognize that these activities carry inherent risks, including but not limited to: physical exertion, slips, trips, falls, vehicular hazards, changing weather conditions, encounters with wildlife, and risks associated with public spaces. I freely and voluntarily assume all risks, both known and unknown, associated with my participation in this event. Section 2: Release of Liability and Indemnification In consideration for being permitted to participate in the event, I hereby release, waive, acquit, and forever discharge the event organizers, directors, staff, volunteers, sponsors, and landowners (collectively referred to as the "Released Parties") from any and all liability, claims, demands, or causes of action arising out of negligence, personal injury, illness, death, or property damage sustained during or as a result of my participation in this event. I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Released Parties from any financial loss, damages, legal fees, or medical bills incurred as a result of my conduct or participation. Section 3: Compliance with Rules and Laws I agree to abide by all Official Rules and Regulations of the event, including the strict prohibition against trespassing on private property, altering public land, or searching after dark. I agree to comply with all federal, state, and local laws, including Indiana traffic and safety regulations. I understand that failure to comply will result in immediate team disqualification and forfeiture of registration fees. Section 4: Media Release and Privacy Opt-Out I understand that submitting landmark verification photographs grants the event organizers full, royalty-free promotional rights to use my likeness in marketing and social media materials. I acknowledge that I must submit an explicit written request at the time of photo submission if I choose to withhold my image from public promotional materials. Section 5: Minor Participant Amendment & Guardian Consent CRITICAL TEAM ELIGIBILITY POLICY: Per official tournament regulations, individuals under the age of 18 (minors) are legally permitted to accompany adult participants for historical and educational purposes, but they are strictly excluded from the official team roster. Minors do not count as one of the six (6) eligible, registered team members and are legally ineligible to claim, split, or receive any portion of the progressive prize pool. GUARDIAN RELEASE: By checking the consent boxes below, parents and legal guardians certify permission for any accompanying minors to participate under these exact same liability terms. The signing adult assumes all risks and releases the Released Parties from all liability for any injuries or damages suffered by accompanying minors.
